Check out this cute Valentine’s Day banner!
Remember last month when I made a cute embroidered headband and Star Wars embroidered towels? Well, I have been having so much fun playing around with the Janome Memory Craft 500e embroidery machine. This particular machine has so many built-in designs, including this adorable banner outline. There are three styles to choose from and with Valentine’s Day so close, I decided to make the sweet little heart border banner. I did a search online and there are a ton of shops selling similar designs, so anyone can make this, regardless of which embroidery machine you might have.
This would be so fun to hang on the fireplace or in the entry way. I don’t normally do much decor for these holidays, but when it is so simple and Ainsley can help join in, why not?
After inputting the font and designs according the manual, it comes out like this. You then remove it from the hoop and cut close to that outer border line.
It will look like this after each time. I used a fleece so that there was no concern over fraying edges. If you choose to do a regular fabric, you will need to remember that the edges will fray, unless you finish them off.
In order to create the casing for the string (or ric rac, in my case), you will either need to sew the back flaps down or you can glue using fabric glue. Fold to the back, using the blue outline as the folding line. I prefer sewing, but glue is a great option for kids or for those with limited sewing abilities.
If you choose to glue, make sure you only glue close to the edge so that you don’t close up the casing. You will need to let them sit under a stack of books or heavy objects for a few hours to assure they stay put.
Now, you will thread your string through the casings. The easiest way to do this is by attaching the end of your string to a safety pin and use that as a way to get it through each casing.
So cute! Ainsley was very proud of herself for her part in making this. She is now hoping for a new banner each holiday 😉
It would also make a great background for photo sessions. You could make them to say “Happy Birthday” or “I am One”, etc.
And an unsolicited picture of this sweet girl, since she is no longer a part of this blog as much as she used to be!
