Hey guys! I had the opportunity to sew up another pattern from the Bundle Up pattern. If you haven’t done so, check it out! I sewed up the Jocole Wide Leg Pants the other day… check it out HERE. The bundle deal ends soon and there are some awesome patterns included!! Pajamas are one of those things that I just love to sew because you can get creative with fabrics, use scraps, and your kiddo is guaranteed to love them! (none of these are affiliate links, by the way…. I just love them!!)
So, the next pattern I chose was the Jam Jam Sleepwear by Love Notions. So super cute! I chose to make two different pairs…
Okay, so the first one is my favorite and Ainsley’s favorite, as well.
Last year, I purchased a vintage panel from a friend. It is a totally late 70’s/early 80’s polyester blend panel that had SO much awesomeness. I kept it in my stash because I was waiting for the perfect project… and then it happened. Mixed with some organic dusty purple knit I purchased at Mood fabrics last year, we had a winner.
I altered the top pattern to make it a nightgown. Ainsley LOVES nightgowns…. and so did I when I was little. It is SO easy to alter the length of this pattern. Simply measure and then cut to length. I wanted to make sure the entire panel was shown.
The rest of the pattern was sewn as-is and was perfect. The neckband was the very perfect size…. lays super flat. I love that the shoulders have the peek over effect.
THEN, I decided to make another pair because what kid doesn’t need two???
This time, I used a mustard yellow sateen for the majority of the body and a vintage knit for the neck and back yoke.
My favorite part is the vintage trim I used at the shoulders…. I will cry when I run out of that trim.
To go with them, I made the shorts and added a lace faux drawstring. I also added lace to the curved hem.
To add to the vintage effect, I added vintage eyelet trim to the hem of the shorts. The regular shorts pattern don’t have the elasticized hem…. I added that myself, but it was super easy! Just create the shorts as-is and add 1/4 inch elastic to the interior to cinch them in.
The next few pictures show the neckline gaping, but that isn’t fault of the pattern… it is because I made the pajamas one size larger since she has too many clothes right now! Also, this pattern recommends using knits, which I would do normally. Using wovens will not give you the same result…my previous knit result is fantastic. Either way, she loves loves loves her new pajamas and so do I!
