I can’t be the only one totally overwhelmed by all of the sewing machine feet that come with a sewing machine, right? There are SO many of them and each of them have a very specific and important purpose. Learning how to properly use them can really help you improve your sewing and construction… but first, someone needs to tell you what they are and what they do.
As you may know by now, Craftsy is my favorite place to go when I need a tutorial or information on sewing methods. They have many amazing FREE classes and one of them happens to be Sewing Machine Feet from A to Z. This is THE class to take to learn about those confusing feet. Click HERE to sign up and start learning.
Steffani Lincecum is the instructor with years of experience under her belt. She gives detailed information about the different sewing feet including the blind hem, button hole, rolled hem, and of course the zipper foot.
It took me years, literally years, to figure out how to use the blind hem foot and I couldn’t believe how easy it actually was. I wish I had watched this video because Steffani shows how to use it with such ease that you will never want to hem fancy dresses and pants the same way again. A blind hem is a beautiful finishing touch.
Sewing with leather or vinyl can be really tricky and difficult, but there are feet to ease the process along.
If you are a quilter then you might already be familiar with the quarter inch foot. Steffani shows you how to use this to guide you and keep your seam allowances even.
This crazy contraption is a free motion/darning foot. Wait until she shows you how to use this one… it is pretty cool. I really need to try this out, as this is something I have never experimented with it.
I am so excited to try out the feet that I haven’t attempted yet. Which feet have you been wanting to learn more about? Do you have a million feet laying around that you avoid? Make sure you sign up for the FREE Sewing Machine Feet from A to Z class.
