Sewing for Kindergarten: Yearbook Style

The Sewing for Kindergarten series is run by my friend Mie of Sewing Like Mad.  She is an incredible person and an impeccable seamstress, so I was a little nervous to be a part of her series this year… but also excited!  Thanks for having me, Mie!

I have sewn up 8 outfits for Ainsley’s return to school.  I promise I am not trying to be teacher’s pet.  I just really enjoy sewing for her and she needed all new clothes anyway.  Once I realized I had this many outfits, I had to come up with a clever way to share them with all of you… and I created Sewing for Kindergarten:  Yearbook Style.  Click on the link below to “flip” through the yearbook.  The “best of the best”, shall we say.  I hope you enjoy!

As posted last week, Ainsley started kindergarten.  Now, here is where it gets a tad complicated.  She isn’t quite 5 yet (she actually celebrates her birthday tomorrow!), so she misses the public school cut off by 10 days.  TEN!  Because she has already completed 2 years of preschool and one year of pre-k… we were left with an odd situation.  We decided to send her to a private kindergarten this year and then she will go to kindergarten AGAIN next year, when she is actually supposed to go.  Am I making sense?  No?  Probably not.

(and to answer a few questions from Mie…)

Is this your first time sending a child to Kindergarten?   No, I sent Ethan 3 years ago.

Do you feel like crying or celebrating?  A bit of both.  I love seeing her grow and learn, but it is also crazy to realize that both of my kids are growing so fast.

And what about your child? She was nervous at first because she thought she would miss me, but once the day came, she has been thrilled each and every day to walk into the building.  Phew.

What type of school (public, private, homeschool) will your child attend?  Private school for the next 2 years, and then public.

What was your own first day of school like (if you remember ;-)?  I used to LOVE school, so I am sure it was fantastic!
