Summer was amazing and wonderful and peaceful. I am always so sad when it ends, but I do enjoy seeing my kids’ growing excitement about the return to school. A new school year means new friends, new experiences, and new knowledge.
Ainsley misses the public school cut off by 10 days, so we decided to send her to a private kindergarten this year. She has already had 3 years of preschool, so she is more than ready. We will likely send her to an even more rigorous private kindergarten next year, instead of first grade so that she doesn’t end up being the youngest during her school career. By the time she gets to first grade, she will certainly be ready!
Her first day was filled with mixed emotions. She had been fretting about leaving me, but by the time she was dressed and taking photos, she was thrilled.
Every year, I take photos in the same spot to show how much they grow and change. (including my photography skills ha!)
Ainsley will be 5 years old in 7 days and I just love her so much.
Ethan started school a week after she did, so I will share his photos tomorrow.
Of course, I let her pick out her own book bag and what did she choose?? A kitty cat, obviously. You don’t get much more kitty cat than this and she was definitely the only one in her school with it. Ha!!! (you can purchase the bag here... not affiliated with it, just love it…. although our particular bag doesn’t seem to be available anymore.)
As I mentioned, Ainsley was having a hard time acknowledging the return to school, so she asked if we could take pictures together. I was more than happy to oblige! I then printed these out, laminated them and put them safely in her bag. She knows she can look at them any time she misses me.
I will share more about her first day outfit next week, during my time slot on Sewing for Kindergarten!

Hope she has/had (never know what time it is in the US…) a wonderful day. I just recognized that our kids are almost the same age. My daughter will be 5 on the 12th!
OMG, I LOVE the picture of Ainsley and Ethan hugging! It’s just so beautiful!
I love this; her face and outfit are just perfect! I love the idea of laminating the photos, smart move 🙂
