The Kitchen Lighting with GE Reveal

*This is a sponsored post, but as always, all opinions are 100% my own.

GE recently contacted me to see if I would like to try out their Reveal lightbulbs and of course, I agreed!  I knew right away that I would want to try them in our kitchen because the lighting in there always seems so off and yellow.  The GE reveal halogen lightbulbs are energy efficient and offer clean, full spectrum light, which helps whites actually appear white!

Before I share how much of a difference the bulbs made, I want to show my kitchen to you.  One of our long term plans is to completely redo this area and install brand new white cabinets, new countertops, and a pop of color on the island.  Right now, everything is so…. yellow and redoing the kitchen just isn’t in the financial plans at the moment.

As you can see, the cabinets are in great shape, but they have such a yellow undertone that drives me nuts!

One day, we plan to have the floors sanded and re-stained to remove some of the yellow tones from there, as well.

Can you tell I like white, gray and blue?

The new reveal® LED also offers big energy and cost savings, lasting more than a decade based on three hours of use each day. It is engineered to have the same familiar size and shape of an incandescent bulb as traditional incandescents will no longer be manufactured in the United States as of January 2014 due to their energy inefficiency and changing energy regulations. The new reveal LEDs will come in 40- and 60-watt replacements, as well as a popular BR-30 shape for recessed fixture down-lighting.

The reveal® line also includes energy-efficient halogen which use 28% less energy than regular incandescent reveal® bulbs, compact fluorescents (CFL), decorative bulbs, and more.

As a blogger, I often need to get pictures of food or crafts and I can never get pictures in the kitchen because of the yellow lighting.

As you can see, the plate and counter top are very yellow-y and not very appealing.
I switched out the old bulbs to the new reveal bulbs and I couldn’t believe what a difference it makes!

I love how bright and white it looks!

As you can see, there is a huge difference in coloring and clarity with the new bulbs and I am sold!  Thanks for letting me try them out GE!

I have also purchased new bulbs for other rooms in our house and I have used the new Target Cartwheel app.  Have any of you tried it?  Get 25% off GE reveal light bulbs:

It is so beautiful! If it were me, I would stain the floors a bit darker, less yellow. Butcher board counter tops with white cabinets with colorful accents, like purple. That’s what I want to do to our kitchen. I love the idea of redecorating but never have besides the nursery haha.

Wow! What a difference! I asked my hubby (optical physicist) about these and he said the technology for the nice white light is really cool and innovative.

That really does make such a difference! I totally love your kitchen set up by the way. I get what you mean about the yellow undertones, but it is still such a beautiful space. We changed our kitchen cabinet fronts from what you have to white this year and it’s unbelievable how happy I am in that space now. What a difference white makes. It was a total nightmare though, but thank goodness my husband knows what he’s doing because he had to get pretty creative to do what we were trying to do (keep all the existing cabinet bases and counter tops). So until you guys are able to jump into the mess of kitchen redo just know how gorgeous we all think your space is as is and enjoy that amazing new lighting!
