I love, love, love when I have an excuse and a reason to sew for Ethan! Sewing for boys is so rewarding and it seems like I never get a whole lot of time to do it. When I was asked to join in on the Caanan’s Incredible Blazer tour being held over on Pattern Revolution, I was so excited and so was Ethan.
The Caanan’s Incredible Blazer pattern was created by the talented My Little Plumcake designer Michelle. This isn’t your average blazer pattern, folks. This blazer has such a professional finish and I was so happy about that.
This is definitely not a fast sew, but it is so worth it.
My favorite parts are the little details like the elbow patches, the hood, pockets, lapels, and the fact that it had multiple pieces for the sleeve and interior. Those elements give it a store bought appearance.
We interrupt this pattern review to share my cutie pie…
I made the size 7 for my 6.5 year old son and I am glad I did because it fits just right. I placed the pockets higher than drafted because he has a tendency to get distracted by lower pockets (He has Autism and can focus on small details). He can still reach them to put fun things in them, but they won’t be distracting to him during the school day. I also added button holes and buttons.
I used a really soft navy blue velour for the interior and the hood and he adores it… it is SO warm and soft.
I also did the button tabs at the shoulders, which are awesome!
Pair the shoulder tabs with the elbow patches for such a cool look.
(by the way, check out how well I matched up the back seam!)

Like I mentioned, I added the hood, but next time, I think I will add the optional collar to give it more of a cohesive look.
My buddy had a great time getting his photo taken and loved showing off his new jacket.
Make sure you head over to Pattern Revolution for your chance to win a copy of the pattern for yourself and to see all of the other blogger’s blazer photos!

The blazer looks wonderful on Ethan. The blue velour on the inside was a stroke of inpiration! It is beautiful and but most importantly, it feels so nice on the inside.
Hayley, beautiful…Ethan, the jacket, just beautiful! Speechless…
