I am so excited to be back for another Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop Tour over at Naptime Crafters.
For the fall pattern tour, I chose to make the Ashley Ruffle knit dress and I love it (and so does Ainsley).
The pattern calls for all knit, but because it has a gathered skirt, you can actually use a non-knit fabric for that part, if you desire. Just make sure to use knit for the top and sleeves. I used a stretchy denim with a double needle hem for the bottom skirt and I think it adds a good contrast and texture.
The only other thing I added was the sweet teal flower to the front… you can pick these up at any craft store and hand stitch it right to your dress for a store bought look.
Does it get much cuter than this pose?
Work it, Ainsley, work it.
I literally didn’t add anything other than my logo.
She brought all of the sass upon herself.
I plan to make more of these for fall and winter… can you just picture this with boots and thick stockings???
After our photo shoot at the church, Ainsley decided she wanted to play on the hills and I got some great play shots.
Here she is… about to “fly”
Overall, this was a great pattern.
Sizing was spot on. Ainsley wears a size 4 in store bought clothes and I made her the size 4 in this dress. It probably won’t fit her long, so I will size up next time.
The only hurdle I had was the side placket. I found that my placket wouldn’t lay correctly and I kind of wished the placket was top stitched on both sides. I will modify that bit on my next dress.
Otherwise, this dress was great and I really love it.
Just for fun… Ainsley was trying to beat her shadow.
Look at the determination on her face, hahaha!!!
Thanks for having me again Amy!
