Last month, I guest posted over a Nap-time Creations for her Sew Many Books Series. When Emily contacted me and asked me to participate in this adorable series, I knew immediately that I wanted to make a Little Red Riding Hood outfit for my daughter Ainsley. I have wonderful memories of a beautiful Halloween costume my mum had sewed for me as a child, but I wanted to make sure Ainsley’s outfit was wearable for everyday and not “costumey”.
Little Red Riding Hood was definitely my favorite story as a young child. I loved the whole idea so much and so does Ainsley.
I had plans of taking her to a local forest, but time didn’t allow for that… so our backyard had to suffice. She had a blast pretending there was a “big bad wolf” in our yard.
She was legitimately concerned that a wolf might jump out at her.
The beautiful cape was created from the Oliver and S Little Things to Sew cape pattern. I adore it.
I made it reversible with red fleece on the outside
And super adorable Riley Blake fabric on the inside.
It will get tons and tons of use this winter!
The actual outfit needed to be suitable for a 4 year old in preschool, so I made her a skirt and a tshirt to match.
Once again, I used all Riley Blake fabrics and made the skirt from the Little Lizard King Apron Skirt pattern. Love!
I used one of her white tshirts and simply added a panel of the Riley Blake fabric and ric rac.
Don’t worry… the wolf never got her…
and she made it to Grandma’s house.

I love the cape and good in fleece – I wonder if it would work for a boy as well? (Maybe with batman details)
Thanks for sharing your creativity.
