Last month, I guest posted over at SewCanShe with this awesome Puppet Theater Cabinet and I want to share it all with you today!
I was given the challenge of sifting through all the awesome tutorials Sew Can She has available, picking one, and creating something from it. I immediately knew that I wanted to use the adorable puppet show tutorial from The Crafty Cupboard as my inspiration. I love how she utilized the space and created a fun spot for her children to use their imaginations.
We are just finishing up a large play area for the kids down in our basement (not yet finished, which is why these pictures are in my breakfast room:) and we luckily have the space for a large puppet theater cabinet!
My husband found this gem on the side of the road and brought it home, knowing I would find a good use for it
I removed the doors and top strip of wood, filled in any holes, primed, painted, and voila! My measurements are obviously different than Melanie’s from The Crafty Cupboard, but I utilized the same premise.
The top is attached with a tension rod, so when they tire of this as a puppet theater, it can easily be transformed into something else.
And I just love this fun rabbit fabric I have been hanging onto.
I thought it was perfect for this project.
The stage “curtains” were crushed taffeta scraps from Ainsley’s Christmas Dress and they tie back with ribbon and velcro, which makes it easy for little kid hands to do.
This cabinet was perfect for baskets below… this is where we will store all of the puppet paraphernalia as we collect them.
Many thanks to my friends Stephanie and Denise for loaning me some puppets to use for the photos. When my friend Stephanie told me that she had a chicken marionette, I thought she was joking. Nope, she was not joking.
I love the fact that this puppet theater has a large platform. I imagine that the kids will have fun setting up scenery!
I can’t wait to get this all set up in our new playroom. Both kids love it (my son is not pictured, but I can assure you that he is thrilled about this new toy).

I love this! I’m going to try to make something similar for my kiddos. This is my new favorite page…I’m so glad I found it!
I really like the fabric you used for the curtains.. and well… the whole thing of course! But those curtains are really great, the top fabric (little boy dressed as a bunny) is great.
