It is Week #5 of me being a designer on Project Run and Play!
This week’s challenge was Special Occasion Wear for a fall holiday and the holiday I chose was Thanksgiving because I just absolutely love this time of year. The colors, the cool air, and lots of family gatherings are some of my favorite things.
Introducing:
Haute Harvest
I decided to create full outfits for both Ethan and Ainsley (coordinating, of course!)
Let’s start with
Ainsley’s Dress and Headband
I created Ainsley’s dress out of ivory and brown satin and chocolate brown lace as an overlay.
The dress zips up the back and then ties with a gorgeously large bow
The neckline is adorned with translucent orange beading, which Ainsley refers to as her “necklace”.
Her large chocolate brown satin sash is accented with even more satin, which I turned into a beautiful flower. I cut circles out of orange and tan satin, burned the edges with a lighter and hand sewed it onto the dress and the headband.
(I will post a tutorial soon!)
Not only does she look beautiful, she is also very comfortable because the entire dress is lined and there are no scratchy parts that often come along with “dressy clothes”. She felt free to be herself.
Moving on to
Ethan’s Outfit
I hand painted the stripes on his sweatshirt because I couldn’t find the right fabric locally and didn’t have time to order any online! Resourceful, right? (or perhaps, crazy is a better word)
You can also see that I made his pants. I created them out of faux linen, faux leather buttons, and lots of orange topstitching. As an extra accent, I added orange, brown, and white strips to the cargo pocket.
This outfit is just what Ethan needs: comfortable, soft, and slightly loose fitting. It is also very easy to get on and off.
Perfect for playing and running!
It definitely received the “Ethan Seal of Approval”!
They had a blast running around during our photo shoot!
Hope you enjoyed all the photos!
Please go over to Project Run and Play to vote for your favorite look this week!
