I have been totally scarce from Project Run and Play this season, haven’t I??? Other than my Jump Rope Dress, I have legitimately not had time to participate and that makes me want to rip my hair out! Okay, so I won’t harm myself, but seriously, time needs to slow down a bit!
This week’s theme is Signature Style.
This was actually easy for me because I feel like I have finally carved out my own distinctive style in the large world of sewing! What do I think my style includes? Classic style, beautiful fabrics, transitional pieces, interchangeable layers, and definitely unexpected details.
Introducing The Lily Dress
Unfortunately, I don’t have any “model action shots” for this dress yet, but my dress form agreed to be a stand-in. (plus, aren’t dress forms much easier to photograph than children, anyway?)
I created this dress using 100% organic cottons and they are SO incredibly soft and luxurious
(aka not inexpensive, that’s for sure!)
Because of the removable apron, the dress has so much wearability.
Just LOOK at that gorgeous, pre-embroidered fabric used for the bodice and the apron front!
The pink border on the apron helps differentiate the apron from the bodice.
A beautiful large bow ties in the back for whimsy, but also allows for the dress to grow with the
little girl. When she gets older and taller, the straps can be loosened for a better fit.
The removable apron also ties nicely around the back for a splash of color
Remove the apron for a different style of dress!
Isn’t it such a sweet dress?
The dress is completely lined with an additional skirt layer for modesty.
Most of the dress has French Seams for even more comfort.
The wide border at the bottom helps add some weight, both for visual aesthetics and for proper draping.
There you have it! MY signature style (or so I think). These are the types of clothing items that make me excited to sew and create. I love the classics, but with a twist.
Now, if only I had time to make them more often!!!
