Guess what?? Project Run and Play is back up for another season and I am participating again! Woot Woot.
To start off this season, they are having the contestants create a “remix” using the Circle Skirt Pattern from the Dana Made It blog. It is a SUPER easy skirt pattern and even beginners should try it out!
However, the point of the contest is to think outside of the box and create something new and interesting. I instantly knew I would make Ainsley a dress, but tunic length. And BOY did I have the perfect fabric just calling my name!
In comes the most perfectly awesome MUSHROOM fabric, straight from the 70’s! What could be more awesome than mushroom fabric??? Not much. Not much at all, I swear.
So, I took the circle skirt pattern and created a dress. How? Simple! Make the skirt longer than skirt length…. well, make it dress length! Then, I created a band of fabric at the top with buttons in the back for easy on/off. Finally, I created some simple, sweet straps by shirring/ruffling some of the leftover mushroom fabric. ( I shirred the straps with elastic thread…. allows the dress more movement and give up top)
Oh, and that adorable headband??? SO easy! ( I promise to do a tutorial soon!) Just take some leftover fabric, cut out flower pieces and attach to a piece of elastic. Sounds complicated? I promise, it isn’t!
Now, let me show more pictures of my little sweetheart 🙂
