Remember Ainsley’s “shabby chic” big girl room?? (click HERE for pictures) Well, it is still very much a work in progress, but I finally redid a chair for her! The weather has been beautiful lately, so I took advantage of it and busted out the spray paint, a staple gun, and some gorgeous Amy Butler fabric:)
Several months ago, I had purchased an old chair at the local thrift store for a few bucks. I could tell it had great bones, but really really ugly golden velvet cushions. Gah.
Nothing a little spray paint and fabric can’t fix! Because of the open mesh-like back on the chair, it actually took 2 cans of spray paint to get full coverage.
Isn’t it cute??
I happened to already have this lovely Amy Butler home decor fabric in my collection and the colors are going to be perfect in Ainsley’s room. I removed the ugly golden velvet fabric from the seat and staple gunned the new fabric to it. Then, I sewed a basic envelope style pillow for the back. Easy peasy!
Ainsley already told me she loves it and I will get pictures of it in her room soon!

The chair is so pretty! This is exactly the type of thing I need to be doing around our house to spruce it up (trying not spend a lot, but freshen the look). Never used a staple gun, but you made it sound so easy! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Great transformation! Beautiful fabric!
Love your chair and that fabric. Good to know that you used spray paint for the chair. I just bought a chair with open caning in it and I was debating about spraypaint vs. brushed paint.
Your chair looks beautiful!

My mom has this exact chair & I’ve been trying to get her to let loose of it for YEARS!! Its so comfortable & looks brand new, other than being so outdated, I love it…. She has it stored in the closet collecting dust, she doesn’t want it redone BC its old! One of these days I’m gonna get that chair!
Hi-Just wanted to let you know I featured your chair on my blog today!
