Yep, the living room again!~ I told you that it wasn’t finished yet, so don’t act all surprised and annoyed that I am showing it again. Remember last time? (post found HERE) I have since added a few details and rearranged some furniture. No, it is still not finished, but it will be. Soon. Maybe.
What is left to do?
* Hardwood floor installation has been scheduled. Woot Woot! We have hardwood floors in the rest of the downstairs and it will look so much better once it is carried into the living room and dining room. Plus, then I will get to buy an area rug and you will get to see my choices. Aren’t you just thrilled?!
* We will be doing some sort of built-ins where the current “entertainment unit” is. We always knew that the entertainment unit was temporary, but it holds all the toys, so it has been a great use of space. However, floor to ceiling built-ins will look much nicer and offer tons of storage space.
* New window treatments for the bay window. I am thinking dark bamboo shades instead of curtain panels. Thoughts??
Here is the room today:
(please excuse some of the very strangely exposed photos…. I am still learning my new camera!)

I love everything you’ve done and have planned to do. I bet the floors alone will make such a change you may start liking the room more. And then built ins, swoon.
Don’t you dare get rid of that corner hutch. It’s freakin’ FABULOUS!
I LOVE the room, it is so inviting. I love the hutch, I would say keep it but maybe do something different where the dishes and mugs are. Can you please tell me about your couch? Did it come slip covered or did you buy or make those for that couch?
I love what you have done so far! The floor and built-ins will really make the room look different so I would probably wait to see what the room looks like with the new additions before i made any major changes…that wall is beautiful and so is the hutch. The stair came out SO GOOOD! I do have somewhat of a similar problem…my nursery…the Dr. Seuss Nursery. The walls are painted to look like the pages of the book and I know the day will come when I have to paint over it…I love it and so do my boys but like you said it is very limiting.
Thanks everyone!
Yes, I agree that we should wait on any big decisions until the floor is in! It could totally change the room
Pickle, the couch is actually from IKEA… came slipcovered and we wash it all the time, lol!
Ashley, I feel you! A good idea can sometimes be limiting!
Your living room looks great, very warm and inviting! Are we EVER done with ANY room in our homes… really?… I don’t think so, I’m always rearranging, redecorating, painting, etc.

love your room and i would love to see your family room in your home tour. ang
Hayley, your living room looks fantastic! I love the color in here and the stencil behind the sofa. I can totally relate with wanting to start over sometimes, but this is a beautiful room!
Thank you for the response on the couch Hayley! I think I will be buying a whole set from Ikea now! Great prices!
I think your living room looks great! The bench in the window looks perfect! I am pretty sure I want to restart a room the second I finish it, so I can relate. Glad to be following you after finding you through the TDC!

Olay, I actually found it on Craigslist! It is referred to as a “Deacon’s Bench” and I think we paid $15 for it:)
I agree about the dark window shades: would make a big difference. I LOVE the hutch, but would maybe shabby chic it , or, chalk paint it. Great room and job.
