That’s right! We have finally moved upstairs with our crazy ideas! No, we are not finished remodeling the first floor yet, but who cares. I get bored easily and I always, always need a new project, so why not start on the perfectly good second floor!?!
This has been mentioned before, but it needs mentioning again… The previous owner had a large dog and a teenage son. Both of those things equal yucky carpet on the stairs and in some of the bedrooms! The house is only about 10 years old, but the carpet has seen better days. After steam cleaning it, vacuuming it, and having it professionally cleaned, I ultimately decided it was time to rip it all out. We agreed to start with the stairs and the hallway. In a few weeks, we will work on the bedrooms.
So, I don’t always think things through before I do them and this is one of those times. I was so gung ho about removing the disgusting carpet and I didn’t really have a “plan”….Screw plans! Things always work out and I assume this will be the same way. We can’t exactly afford hardwood floors or even new flooring right now, so it should be quite an adventure making it work. Stay tuned to see what I do with it!
Today, we had my Dad and Mum come over to help…. My Dad helped me and Garrett rip out all of the carpet, padding, tack boards, and staples. My mum helped by watching the kids. They loved it!
Are you still following my train of thought? Ready to see some before and after pictures? Are you ready to see what I now how have to work on?
Well, so there you have it. I am now left with subfloors in the upstairs hallway and unfinished pine stairs. Still 4 bedrooms worth of carpet to rip out and then the painting begins! Stay tuned!
