We have finally replaced the awful lights in our kitchen!
The awful flouro above our sink:
Doesn’t it look ghastly?
Here is the light that we refer to as the “autopsy light” above our kitchen island:
Final view of the kitchen with the ugly lights:
(excuse the mess:)
My wonderful Dad helped Garrett hang both of the lights, while I stood by and made sure no one got electrocuted. Yes, I asked 15 times, “Are you sure the circuit breaker is off?” “Are you sure that you won’t start a fire?”
(thanks Dad!)
Final product is so great (to me, at least!) It makes such a huge difference in the atmosphere in the room!
I will get better pictures this week when everything is cleaned up, but for now….
Here are some real life pictures!

Ainsley, being naughty as usual:
Later this week, I will show the light above the sink. It was a total fail!

Nice work! It makes such a difference! I like the fixture you chose. I wish, wish, wish we could do the same with our fluorescent kitchen light, but unfortunately it’s the kind that’s recessed. It’s doable, I guess, but it could risk looking weird…
Thanks! We still have a ton of patching to do, but it definitely makes a huge difference in the room.
I bet you could do yours, but you would have to do some patching and spackling. They also sell kits to bump the light out. You should consider it!
