We went to our Town’s Annual Halloween Parade this past weekend. It was our first time going because last year Ethan was only 4 months old and we didn’t really feel that it would be a fun time. Since we are relatively new to this town, we didn’t know what to expect.
We found out from friends that people set up chairs along the main street days before the parade is set to start. They weren’t kidding! By Wednesday night, the entire 2 mile street was lined with chairs and blankets and benches. I made Garrett run out that night and put our chairs out so that we didn’t miss getting a spot. When he got home, he told me that we were in front of the playground, right next to a big, red wagon.
Our friends, the Yorgey’s, came over prior to the parade. After pizza, we all decided to head over and find parking. Parking was at a premium and Garrett dropped us off close to our spots, while he drove around looking for a place to park. As we were headed towards our chairs, I noticed there was very loud music booming through the town. Hmmmmm…. That music seemed awfully close to our chairs. We got closer, and all I could see were the giant speakers directly next to our spot…Great. Good spot Garrett. Literally, there were 5 huge, very loud speakers about 8 feet high right in front of us. They were playing awesome Halloween music.
The parade finally started, the Halloween music stopped, and the “comedian” announcer began. Yes, the announcer of the parade was sitting in that red wagon Garrett had mentioned. The announcer thought he was Chris Rock. I begged to differ.
Either way, it was great to check it out. We will be back next year!
