I can’t believe it has almost been a year.
I can vividly remember this day last year. Garrett and I had no idea that Ethan would make his appearance tomorrow night. Our baby wasn’t due until late July and we had no plans on him coming this soon.
It was a Tuesday. Garrett was at my mum’s house painting a room for her, ironically it was the room that she was setting up for Ethan. I was at home going about my normal day. We had just moved into our new house only a month prior and there were still items that needed to be put away. If I had known that Ethan was coming in one day, I would have been relaxing and napping.
I didn’t feel good and I alerted the doctor’s office about it. “You’re fine”, they had said.
When Garrett got home that night, we settled on our couch for our regular TV viewing. I clearly remember telling Garrett that I felt like something was wrong and that I had this strange feeling about not being able to keep Ethan in much longer. Garrett agreed saying that he didn’t think it would be much longer. I don’t think either of us ever thought that the next day would be “The Day”.
As we went to bed that night, I thought about what chores I would do the next day. I had to run the dishwasher, clean the bedrooms, and straighten up the living room. Yeah, right. It never got done…
